Tattoo art and designs

This is Ivo

Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about my adventure. My name is Ivo Angelov, and I'd like to share with you a little bit about myself and my art. I've had some amazing experiences with the Rose Parade and the US Army, and I've been fortunate enough to capture thousands of images of the work I've done. However, I've noticed that sometimes these images don't fully showcase the effort and care I put into my work.
I was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and was exposed to many different art forms from a young age. My parents were professionals in the art world - my dad was a restoration technician, and my mom was a teacher. I earned a degree in small electronics from a professional high school, and later a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design. I am really passionate about entrepreneurship and have owned several businesses, including a tobacco shop, gym, and restaurant. Since my twenties, I've always been busy with some project or adventure.
In 2015, I came to the United States with just a suitcase and $2000. It's been my home ever since, and I've found that art has been a great way to make friends and earn a living. I joined the team at Fiesta Parade Floats in 2016, and then joined the Army in 2018. Now, I'm a proud veteran and a tattoo artist at Cherno Ink Tattoo Studio Huntsville AL

Artistic Statement
My artistic interests cover a wide range of mediums and styles, which have evolved over different periods of my life. I like to draw people's attention and emphasize their perspective by introducing vibrant and colorful objects to places where they don't belong, with the intention of catching the eye. I have worked with a variety of materials and scales, but my favorite canvases are digital media and skin (tattoos). During my first BA Major, I gained a lot of knowledge about realism pencil and charcoal drawing. Although I don't consider myself a strong realism drawer, the European continent, where the renaissance and classical drawing originated, has left a lasting impression on me. Currently, I focus mainly on small-scale graphics, which make up 80% of my work. I intend to continue focusing on this area and building upon it. Over the years, I've experimented with many different mediums, ranging from 3D work for my degree projects to sculptures made from metal and foam for the Rose Parade. I've also worked on digital designs for posters, cards, and commercial media, as well as paintings made with acrylic and spray paint. Recently, I've been exploring skin and digital media. I am inclined towards the gore, and the grotesque I always found it fascinating as it makes people stare. Devil is in the detail so I do tend to pay as much attention as I mentally can to my fine work. My compositions usually relate to whatever is popular, I often observe the work of other artists in the tattoo world to whom I may relate, in order to develop ideas for my compositions and generate a final product. Specifically in my field of work which is tattoos, I get asked to create original art every week and I have found that to be very challenging but rewarding. That volume tremendously helps the artist to undertake more projects with believe that one can execute them and present them. My current favorite medium is the human skin. My main focus is on a realistic grey work with splashes of red around it (the style is more famously known as “Trash Polka”), It’s a clash of realities. Another style I do enjoy is the “Pencil Sketch” (a way of tattooing where the lines are rough and look like a sketch). When I’m not making tattoos, I do enjoy designing them which sometimes turns into graphic art itself, I use mainly Procreate or Sketchbook for that purpose. I think as an artist my work and my client’s responses have determined me to be a very detail-oriented tattoo artist. This is the field that has brought me the most rewarding development into fine art. I do feel the need to keep pushing the boundaries in order to achieve another step into my detail. Regardless of the medium that I use I always like to attract the interest with flashier and bolder imagery. I will continue to experiment into that topic in order to achieve as much of that effect into my spectators.

READ CAREFULLY
I believe in being upfront about both the cost and time commitment for your tattoo. While small variations can occur based on skin type and detail, my process allows me to give very precise estimates so there are no surprises. I work by the session, which keeps the focus on quality rather than the clock.
A full arm sleeve, from wrist to the ball of the shoulder (inside and out), typically takes 4.5 full-day sessions at $1,500 per session. A full leg sleeve, from the ankle to the bottom of the glute (including the inside of the leg but staying away from the groin), usually requires 6 full-day sessions at $1,500 per session.
For standalone tattoos, a design about the size of a letter page (8.5” × 11”) takes a full-day session ($1,500), while a design about half that size (approx. 8.5” × 5.5”) takes a half-day session ($750).
This structure ensures you know the investment and session plan in advance, and it allows me to dedicate each day entirely to your tattoo without rushing, so the end result meets the highest standard of detail and quality. If you’re planning a sleeve or considering a single piece, feel free to reach out to book a consultation so we can map out your design and create a clear session plan that works best for you.
I require a $300 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit, which does 3 things.
1) It goes toward the price of your tattoo the day of your appointment.
2) It allows me to schedule your session date at your consultation.
3) It retains my services to go to the drawing board with your ideas and get started on your design.
