Black & Grey Realism Tattoos in Huntsville
Black and grey realism is what I do — not one style among many, but the center of my work. Realism means the tattoo reads like a photograph or a classical drawing: real light, real shadow, real depth — all of it built from black ink alone.
If you’re looking for a realism specialist in Huntsville, here’s exactly what that means and how a project comes together.

Classic and opaque — the two approaches
Classic black & grey — pure black ink diluted to three strengths, with every tone blending continuously into the next. No visible line between tones. It heals soft, dimensional, and timeless.
Opaque black & grey — solid blacks and greys blended so thoroughly no border exists between them. Dense, heavy, bold — and the workhorse behind serious cover-ups.
Which one fits depends on your skin, the subject, and what the piece needs to do. That’s a consultation conversation, and it’s free.

Built to hold up — and how to start
The real test of realism is year five, not day one. Contrast is what survives healing — which is why I build pieces around strong value structure, not just fine detail. Smooth healed results come from correct tone placement, not luck.
Every project starts with a free consultation (Thursday–Sunday, 12:00–5:30 PM). We talk through your idea, placement, size, and budget, and I tell you honestly what will and won’t work. A $500 deposit books your session day and is applied to the final cost — and you see the design on session day, with multiple options to choose from.
Sessions run $900 (half-day) and $1,700 (full-day) — full project estimates are on the pricing page.
